Transition Greensboro will partner with the Center for Ecozoic Studies,
the Servant Leadership School of Greensboro and Holy Trinity Episcopal
Church to bring eco-philosopher and spiritual activist Joanna Macy to Greensboro. Macy is a scholar of Buddhism and general
systems theory and deep ecology. She has also been a respected voice in
movements for peace and justice and ecological sustainability.
"An Evening with Joanna Macy" will be held at Holy Trinity Church in the Haywood Duke Room at 7:00 pm. A wine and cheese reception will precede her
talk at 6:00 pm in The Sacred Garden Bookstore and will include a meet and
greet with Dr. Macy and book signing session of her new book co-authored
with Dr. Chris Johnstone Active
Hope, How to Face the Mess We're in without Going Crazy.
"Books about social and ecological change too often leave out a vital
component: how do we change ourselves so that we are strong enough to fully
contribute to this great new shift? Active Hope fills this gap beautifully,
guiding readers on a journey of gratitude, grief, interconnection, and,
ultimately transformation." (Naomi Klein, author of The Shock Doctrine).
Tickets for the talk are available through the Servant Leadership School and will cost $10.00. For a cost of
$25.00, you can attend both the reception and the program. If you
would like to donate to the cost of this event, please contact Kathe Latham
at kblatham@aol.com. For tickets contact Amelia Poole at ameliapoole@aol.com or go to www.servantleadergreensboro.com
to register online.
